Run to Feed the Hungry Tradition

It's an annual family Thanksgiving tradition that Gregg and I started a few years back to wake up REAAAAALLLY early the morning of Thanksgiving, put on our exercise gear and meet up with 20,000 of our closest friends to do the Run to Feed the Hungry. Usually mom is hosting a huge Thanksgiving LUNCH but this year she decided to host DINNER instead so that her, dad and David could do the walk with us. You have the option to either do a 10k run or a 5k walk, we opted for the walk - even though we're capable of doing the 10k....who wants to run when you can walk by all the pretty houses and chat the whole time? It is definitely a huge sense of accomplishment to wake up that early and see all these people around you giving back to the community that you love so much.

The weather was perfect this year, cool and crisp in the morning and it got warmer as the day went on. We got really cute white shirts this year, perfect to run in. I am so glad that we have this tradition as a family, not only is it great family bonding time but then we all don't feel so bad about eating turkey all day/night long! Hope everyone had a spectacular Thanksgiving!

I've always wanted to do this. Maybe I'll start my tradition next thanksgiving :)I'll probably opt for the walk...I mean come on...who runs when you have the option to walk for the same t-shirt :) that is why people sign up for these things right? :)
