G and I spent our 2nd anniversary touring the beautiful city of napa. It was a beautiful and relaxing weekend full of wine, delicious food and a few hilarious moments that of course are now hilarious memories. We had planned to go to napa straight from work on a Friday. Our car was packed, the hotel was booked and we even had some wine and champagne that we brought from previous wine trips to pop open when we arrived! WE WERE READY! We arrived at our destination, the beautiful Embassy Suites Napa Valley a little bit after 6:00pm. I love staying at Embassy Suites because they give you a complimentary happy hour AND complimentary breakfast - LOOOOVE IT!
On our first night there was eventful, I had looked up a few resturants in downtown Napa but just casually looked. When we walked up to my 'original pick' of the night, we realized it was a bit fancier than we had thought, so we quickly walked the streets of downtown Napa and settled on a cute quaint little place that turned out to be really yummy. After a nice gelato stop on the way back to the hotel we were full!
Amazingly enough this Embassy Suites had black swans floating around their property or (schwans as we like to call them). On our honeymoon in Kauai, our hotel there had black 'schwans' so it was kind of a neat moment for us to see them again. (clearly they weren't the same schwans, just the thought that there were 'multiple black schwans was fun'). Are you still with me? haha.
We spent our 2nd day in Napa enjoying their free breakfast in the hotel and headed to rent our super duper moped that Gregg had researched. Wellllllllll, let's just say that didn't work out very well. When we pulled up to the place, I had a bad feeling in my stomach....and now I know my instincts were clearly right. The moped was loud, silly looking and only went 40 miles an hour. We attempted to take the bike out, helmets and all and about 20 minutes into our s-l-o-w ride up the Silverado trail we called it quits and make a quick u-turn to return the 'bad mistake' we had rented.
About 20 minutes later we were apologizing and speeding away in our car (I have never loved being in a car so much) and decided to make our own wine tour up the Silverado trail and down Highway 29. We stopped at quite a few beautiful wineries and enjoyed our tastings just the two of us! One of my favorite places to stop is the V. Sattui Winery Deli. We got a mixture of olives, sammys, cheese, bread and some wine of course.
We relaxed the rest of the afternoon and got a little nap in before our 'big night'. Almost 5-6 years ago G and I went to napa with his entire family and ate at this beautiful resturant called Brix so we decided to carry on the tradition and eat there again. It was gorgeous inside, they have the perfect ambiance for an 'anniversary' and we enjoyed our fancy smancy dinner and didn't worry about the bill (for once in our lives)
Such a glorious weekend spent with my husband. He makes me so happy and keeps me so content. It's amazing how you can spend so much time with someone and still find things to learn about them and love them so much more every, single, day. Happy Anniversary love, I can't wait to go back there with you!
**pictures to come soon, they're missing right now...ugh**
